PALLAS-1 Liquid Launch Vehicle Successfully Completed Semi-Physical Simulation Test of Control System

2024/02/28

Recently, Galactic Energy successfully completed the semi-physical simulation test of the control system of PALLAS-1 liquid reusable launch vehicle. During the test, the control system worked stably under the preset working conditions of the simulated flight, and the servo mechanism and other important on-vehicle equipment performed and matched well, making the test a complete success.

PALLAS-1 is a medium-to-large-sized reusable liquid launch vehicle independently developed by Galactic Energy, mainly for the market demand of large-scale constellation networking, with a take-off mass of 283 tons and a low-orbit capacity of 8 tons, which can be upgraded to a low-orbit capacity of 10 tons through the optional Eros -2 upper stage, and to 17.5 tons through the expansion of the CBC configuration, making it a commercial launch vehicle with a very cost-effective price. It is a very cost-effective commercial launch vehicle.

The first-stage of PALLAS-1 adopts the control scheme of "fiber optic short-coupled inertia group + flight integrated controller + electric servo mechanism". Seven CQ-50 liquid oxygen/kerosene engines developed by the company are connected in parallel in the first stage, and two electric mechanical actuators are installed in each engine to realize radial and tangential oscillation of the engine and provide attitude control force during flight. With the redundant design of the power system, when a single engine/servo fails under extreme conditions, the rocket can still be guaranteed to continue stable flight by redistributing control commands to the remaining six engines, which greatly improves the reliability of the rocket. In order to meet the demand for semi-physical simulation test of the control system of PALLAS-1, Galactic Energy has developed the largest liquid engine load simulation system in China, and has carried out the coordination and simulation of the load simulation system in this test. The load simulation system is used to simulate the load moments when the servo mechanism oscillates the engine during the flight of PALLAS-1, and it can realize the real-time dynamic loading and data acquisition of 21 channels in lateral and axial directions at the same time, and together with the high-performance simulation computer, it builds a semi-physical simulation system of the servo mechanism. The system functions comprehensively cover the needs of "PALLAS-1" servo mechanism load performance test and semi-physical simulation test. The semi-physical simulation test fully verified the correctness of the control system design and examined the performance of the servo mechanism in a complex load environment, and the complete success of the test laid a solid foundation for the maiden flight of PALLAS-1 launch vehicle.
